JULY 2020 READS: 5 books

Even though I felt like I was in a bit of a reading slump in July, I finally managed to reach my monthly goal of 5 finished books. The majority of them actually also had really high ratings besides one huge disappointment – “Where the Crawdads Sing”. For the fact of on how many bestseller lists it is currently appearing, I really don’t understand the hype around it…

For the books that I got through in July 2020:

  • It was a month with just a single read for a book club, which I unfortunately wasn’t able to attend because we shifted back to in-person instead of online meet-ups;
  • Almost all the books that I read were in English – except for one, which was in German;
  • Non-fiction once again stayed dominant – 3 out of 5;
  • The majority of the books were written by female authors – 4 out of 5;
  • There was finally a diversity of authors I was aiming towards – with 3 out of 5 books written by non-white authors.

Here the list of all the books read in the order of the ratings that I have given them, from the best to the worst (the complete reviews are linked within the titles of the books):
